We started our journey in 2006 when we took over Organon Pakistan. At that time, we were placed at the 58th position in the IMS but as we continued with our consistent focus on delivering customer value I can proudly say today OBS ranks among the top 20 pharmaceutical players in the country. However, our vision remains to place OBS among the top five major pharma of Pakistan and emerge as a regional force. We look to diversify and strengthen our presence further in the local market and expand our exports extensively with our business already taking foothold in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia and Uzbekistan with various products under registration.
As a company our key focus areas remains on Women Healthcare, Cardiovascular, Diabetic care, Hormones and Dermatology. However, we plan to extend our presence in other therapeutic areas of Ophthalmology and Vaccines. Keeping in view the affordability factor of the medicines in the country and our vision to make healthcare available to humanity irrespective of their social status we have entered the generic business to provide international quality products at an affordable price to improve quality of life for patients. The generic business will help us further diversify our product portfolio and help us in making a more meaningful impact on a wide range of our stakeholder.
Being a company focused on future we place extensive focus on upgrading technology ensuring that we manufacture global quality products in our state of the art technical facilities that meet global standards. As part of this vision we recently added a Modular Clean Room facility as per cGMP standards for the manufacturing of hormonal soft gel capsules. We have also added a new state of the art injectable line to further enhance our manufacturing capability. In our operations across the organization we plan to implement SAP to optimize and increase the efficiency of all processes. We focus extensively on R&D and doing everything better than our competitors eventually helping us realize our goal of being FDA approved and reaching the regulated markets.
Clinical Research is an untapped segment which holds major potential for growth. In line with our commitment towards improving humanity helping it live healthier and longer we have laid a robust foundation of Aklima Clinical Research with an aim to conduct clinical research not only in Pakistan but in the region. Teams of quality medical professionals, trained personnel, availability of a good Data Management System and a network of research sites are some of the things that contribute to the success of Aklima Clinical Research. We are making steady headways in providing services to our multinationals clients from across the globe and currently we are managing two clinical research trials for international clients. Aklima Clinical Research has the first mover advantage and we look to capitalize on the local potential, create employment opportunities and bring in the much needed foreign exchange to the national exchequer.
The current global economic downturn coupled with difficult times at home both politically & economically with mounting inflationary pressure and with increasing cost of doing business continue to dampen our industry profitability. Despite these constraints we remain passionate about our vision and bullish about the country. Our long term view of the business is to continue growing our market share through our relentless focus on investment in the areas of manufacturing, infrastructure and our people because ‘We are here to stay’.
Our sales revenues continue to grow strongly despite our internal and external challenges.
